Area transfer students to attend SUNY Oswego

OSWEGO, NY (08/04/2016)-- More than 675 transfer students have reserved places at SUNY Oswego for fall 2016. Classes start Aug. 29. Those from the area are as follows:

Former President Clinton Visits Area – by Vince Gallagher

COLONIE  APRIL 16– Former President Bill Clinton visited the Desmond Hotel in Colonie on Saturday to support his wife’s presidential campaign. Speaking before a crowd of nearly 600 people, Clinton said his wife’s presidency would bring a can-do attitude to the job…and the goal is to bring the country back to how it used to be.

American Legion National Commander Visits the Area – by H. Wessell

SARATOGA SPRINGS, April 14

National Commander of the American Legion Dale Barnett visited at Saratoga Springs on this date, and other parts of New York recently.

The National Commander, he explained, is the chief executive officer and official spokesman of The American Legion,  with full power to enforce provisions of the organization's constitution, bylaws and resolutions. Each National Commander serves a one-year term. Barnett was elected at the annual Legion convention on Sept. 3, 2015.

Fireball Run to Visit Our Area

CLIFTON PARK -, April 6, 2016:  Fireball Run, a world-famous television and internet streaming series, will be crossing New York State in late September, passing through southern Saratoga County on September 29/30, 2016.   Welcome events are planned in Ballston Spa and Clifton Park as 40 competing teams vie for top honors in solving clues, engaging with historic artifacts and meeting significant figures in our region and nation’s history.  Contestants also aid in the search for America’s missing children, and to date 48 children have been found in part by their efforts.

Wellspring: Hope for Domestic Violence Survivors – by J. Dugan

Wellspring, formerly Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Services of Saratoga County, has been a presence in the community since its humble beginnings as an all-volunteer organization in the 1970’s. Through the years, the organization has incorporated and grown to meet the needs of area residents, educating, empowering and assisting them in getting the help that they need.
