Clayton Donald “Red” Darrow – 80

SCHAGHTICOKE – Clayton Donald “Red” Darrow, 80, died Friday August 29th at Evergreen Commons, East Greenbush, after an extended illness.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 2nd at 1 PM at DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville.  Burial with military honors at Saratoga National Cemetery.Calling hour at the Funeral Home, Tuesday from 12-1 PM.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Saratoga National Cemetery Honor Guard Assoc., (SNCHGA), 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville, 12871.

All Saints on the Hudson Faith Formation Registration

MECHANICVILLE - Registration for all grades Kindergarten to High school will be available the following times and places:

  • At the Parish Center 52, William Street, Mechanicville: after the 4:00pm Mass and 10:30 am Mass: the weekends of September 6th / 13th and September 7th/ 14th
  • Registration will also be offered during Faith Formation office hours Monday- Thursday - 8:00am to 3:00pm.

MECHANICVILLE – Daniel M. O’Keefe, 47, of Micklas St., Riverside, died at home, Tuesday, Aug. 26th, suddenly of natural causes.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Sept 2nd at   at All Saints on the Hudson SouthChurch, 121 No. Main St., Mechanicville, with burial to follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery.

Adirondack Save-A-Stray Pets for Adoption

loulouLoulou - Loulou is a 25lb 6 month old walker/beagle mix. She was turned in to a very high kill shelter down south. She has the most darling disposition and the people at the shelter just fell in love with her. She is up to date on all shots and ready for her forever home.
Brindle 3Brindle babies - These pups are from down south and were found abandoned in the night drop box of another high kill shelter. They are around 8-9 weeks old, have had their first set of shots, worming and have been vet checked. For more information on them please call the shelter at 518-654-6220.

Malta Dog Park – by H. Wessell

 

MALTA, August 25 - Well, yes, in a sense; but it's good news. The dogs are going to Malta, not the other way around.

   In the past year, dogs in increasing numbers are coming, even from other Towns, and their owners gladly with them  -- coming, specifically,  to East Line Romp and Play Dog Park, at 584 East Line Road, which has seen more than satisfying success even in its first months of  operation.

New Director of the Waterford Museum – by T. Mahoney

WATERFORD- Paul Archambault brings experience and vision to his new position as Director of the Waterford Museum. He worked for four years on an archeological dig in the Smoky Mts. of Tennessee . The project was to look for Indian artifacts from 2500-300 years ago before an interstate was built. After that project he earned his MA in Public History at the University of North Carolina. Public History is the study of a community's history. Paul's undergraduate degree is in archeology.

Stillwater Appoints New Police Sergeant – by H. Wessell

 

TOWN OF STILLWATER, August 21 - The Town of Stillwater Police Department, for the first time in several years, has two sergeants.

   In a swearing-in ceremony at Town Hall,  Officer Charles T. Rockwell Jr. Of the Department  was made Sergeant, in particular because of the recent appointment of Sergeant Raymond Cordani as Police Commissioner.

Al Lewis Honored at Hoosic Valley School – by C. Barton

 

Valley Falls-Al Lewis, sponsor chair and longtime volunteer for the Hoosic Valley Athletic Association (HVAA) was surprised with the honor of having his name listed on the 2014 Hoosic Valley Boys State Championship sign that was unveiled at a Valley Cats Game this month. Lewis, has been a longtime officer of the HVAA and a fan of all school and community sports. Lewis has been involved with community sports for 44 years now as a volunteer and has worked with the he HVAA since its start in 1971. “I enjoy all the watching all the sports and seeing the kids get involved”, says Lewis.
